ALC 5/16 Pressure Pot Blast Nozzle

The 5/16″ bore delivers 5 to 5.5 sq ft/min at 800 lbs/hr - built for high-volume industrial production. Suited to large truck frames, structural steel, and industrial equipment where maximum coverage per hour is the priority. Not suited for small shops where compressor limits sustainable CFM output.

The 5/16″ nozzle draws 125 CFM at 80 PSI. A 25 HP or larger two-stage industrial compressor is required for sustained operation. Most shop compressors below 20 HP cannot maintain 125 CFM at 80 PSI - pressure drops during blasting reduce media throughput below 800 lbs/hr rated output.

The 5/16″ covers 5 to 5.5 sq ft/min at 800 lbs/hr using 125 CFM. The 1/4″ covers 4 to 4.5 sq ft/min at 500 lbs/hr using 80 CFM. The 5/16″ is about 25 percent faster but requires 56 percent more air. Use 5/16″ only if your compressor can sustain 125 CFM at 80 PSI continuously.

The 5/16″ bore handles aluminum oxide, steel grit, garnet, coal slag, and most dry abrasive media types at 800 lbs/hr. Coarser media increases nozzle wear rate. At 125 CFM throughput, the bore widens faster than smaller sizes - inspect after every 20 to 30 hours of production blasting.

Replace the 5/16″ nozzle when blast coverage per pass drops, when the bore measures noticeably wider than 5/16″, or when throughput falls below 800 lbs/hr. At 125 CFM and 800 lbs/hr, wear accumulates faster than any other ALC size - inspect frequently in industrial production environments.
