ALC 5/32 Pressure Pot Blast Nozzle

The 5/32″ bore suits motorcycle frames, railing sections, garden tools, and medium automotive castings where the 1/8″ is too slow but the 1/4″ exceeds compressor capacity. At 2 to 2.5 sq ft/min and 200 lbs/hr, it is the mid-range production nozzle for 10 HP two-stage setups.

The 5/32″ nozzle draws 25 CFM at 80 PSI. A 10 HP two-stage compressor sustains this bore in production. Compressors below 25 CFM sustained output at 80 PSI will cycle on during blasting, causing pressure drops that affect media flow and blast pattern consistency through the session.

The 5/32″ uses 25 CFM and covers 2 to 2.5 sq ft/min. The 1/4″ uses 80 CFM and covers 4 to 4.5 sq ft/min - more than double the coverage at more than triple the air demand. If your compressor cannot sustain 80 CFM at 80 PSI, 5/32″ is the practical production choice.

The 5/32″ bore handles aluminum oxide (36 to 120 grit), glass bead, garnet, and other dry abrasive media. At 25 CFM and 80 PSI it moves 200 lbs/hr. Ensure your blast pot media valve is set for the media type - coarser media requires more airflow to maintain consistent throughput at this bore.

Replace the 5/32″ nozzle when blast area per pass shrinks noticeably, when the bore shows visible widening, or when throughput drops below 200 lbs/hr at standard pressure. Ceramic wear is gradual at this size - track blast area per pass as the primary wear indicator alongside bore inspection.
